- Young-N-Lively of Elgin will be hosting a Garden Tour on Wednesday, July 18th from 5 p.m. to Dusk. Tickets and maps will be available for purchasing at the corner of Bowen Street and Highway 14 in the Centennial Gardens next to the Elgin City Library beginning at 4:45 p.m. the afternoon of the event. There will be 6 gardens on the tour: Val & Rick Hoefer, Darlene & Clayton Dozler, Connie & Mike Dvorak, Kurt & Peg Hanlin, Judy & Gayle Zegers, and Gary & Marlene Scholl. A rain date of July 25th has been set. Proceeds from this event will help pay for park improvements and other community projects sponsored by Young-N-Lively.

- The Northeast Nebraska RC&D artist exhibit for July and August is Roy Reichle, a St Helena resident and serious landscape photographer. Mr. Reichle's exhibit is called, Outside Looking In. The public can meet the artist at an exhibit reception, which will be held on Sunday, July 29th from 11 to 2 at the Northeast RC&D office located at 702 E Park Ave., Hwy 20 in Plainview. A special feature that day from 1 to 1:30 will be poetry readings by Reichle.
